Andrew Bennett, Principal
P.E., CCP
Andrew is a Professional Engineer and BCxA Certified Commissioning Professional. He graduated from the University of Iowa with his BS degree in Mechanical Engineering with an emphasis on Energy Systems and the Environment. Andrew works on both Commissioning and Retro-Commissioning projects, performing design reviews, site visits, functional testing, and trend data analysis. He also helps clients achieve LEED Certification for Existing Buildings.

Rick Boozell, Principal
CCP, LEED AP BD+C, TABB Certified Supervisor
Rick has over 24 years experience in the mechanical and control industry. He successfully completed the application and testing process administered by the Building Commissioning Association to become a Certified Commissioning Professional (CCP). Rick has obtained his LEED AP BD+C credential through the U.S. Green Building Council. He is also a Certified Commissioning Supervisor and a Certified Testing, Adjusting & Balancing Supervisor through the Testing, Adjusting and Balancing Bureau. In May of 2019, Rick also received his Infection Control Awareness Certificate and TABB Certified Fire and Smoke Damper Supervisor Certificate from the annual ICB/TABB Conference in Seattle, Washington. Rick brings a wealth of knowledge in commissioning, retro-commissioning, building automation systems and MEP systems for office buildings, universities, laboratories, and health care facilities.

Dennis Beery
Senior Commissioning Technician
Dennis has over 35 years of experience as a Journeyman Electrician specializing in programming and installation of HVAC controls. As a Building Automation Project Manager, Dennis led the programming and commissioning of Century Links’ 10th and High complex in downtown Des Moines. Dennis has a deep understanding of electrical systems, and for the past twenty years his focus has been on electrical system installation and control integration. Dennis has is A.A.S. Degree in High Tech Electronics. Dennis is currently commisssioning Farm Bureau North & West Building Improvement, Iowa City Community School District West High School, Linn County Public Health, and several other area projects.

Aaron Brace, CCP, BSE
Senior Commissioning Engineer
Aaron has over 14 years of work experience in different roles that include mechanical construction, engineering, and commissioning. He is an Iowa State engineering graduate and obtained his Certified Commissioning Professional certification through the BCxA. Aaron has extensive knowledge of various system designs and system controls. Aaron has lead both new building and existing building commissioning efforts for projects large and small. Project history includes campus utility plants, medical, laboratory, education, and mission critical. Project designs included chilled water, heating water, geothermal water, steam, variable refrigerant, and various air distribution systems including operating rooms and natatoriums.

Garry Caldbeck

Garry founded SystemWorks in 2003. He has over 42 years experience in the mechanical and control industry. Garry attended Grandview College and Des Moines Area Community College where he received an A.A. Degree in HVAC. He holds master licenses issued by the State of Iowa in the four disciplines of HVAC, Refrigeration, Plumbing and Hydronics. Garry is also a Certified Commissioning Supervisor and a Certified Testing, Adjusting & Balancing Supervisor through the Testing, Adjusting and Balancing Bureau.

Jordon Crouse
Senior Commissioning Technician
Jordon has over 22 years of experience in the controls and HVAC industry. His experience comes from control system service, programming and function testing on a very large scale. Jordon prepares commissioning documentation, writes and performs function testing to verify installed sequences and programming meet design requirements.

Greg Hemmen
Commissioning Agent
Greg brings over 25 years of experience in the construction industry to our Commissioning Team. Greg conducts quality assurance site visits and inspections on new construction and renovation projects. He inspects the work of multiple contractors for compliance with the specifications, drawings and code requirements and ensures the correction of deficiencies. As a Field Project Manager, Greg used a CAD-based project management technique to verify design, review shop drawings, procure job materials, and incorporate design changes in real time. Greg received his BS in Construction Engineering and MS in Civil Engineering from Iowa State University.

Building Enclosure Commissioning Provider
Karl’s interest in building enclosures grows from the belief that we can collectively improve the building’s overall performance and sustainability by focusing on the design and construction of the enclosure. He has provided education, design assistance, and analysis to colleagues both internal to the organizations he has been part of (e.g. 2004 presentation on Daylighting, 2013 presentation on NFPA 285) as well as the design community as a whole (e.g. AIA IA 2011 presentation on Hygrothermal Analysis, 2015 presentation to PCI on Commissioning and Energy Modeling). He has been a member of the National Institute of Building Sciences since 2012 and participated in the Building Enclosure Science and Technology symposiums since their start in the US in 2008.

Greg Ogle
Commissioning Technician
Greg has 40 years of experience in the building automation and HVAC temperature controls industry. Prior to joining SystemWorks, Greg worked for Johnson Controls where he focused primarily on existing building equipment retrofits and controls upgrades. Greg’s experience is not just technical. He has led large teams of technicians through challenging retro-fit projects, in buildings with HVAC systems of varying vintages and controls technologies. As a Mechanical Team Project Manager, Greg was responsible for several large projects with an ongoing annual budget in excess of $12M. Greg has experience managing the individual trades, and understands the sequence of construction necessary to have a successful BAS upgrade.

Zack Valigosky, CCP, CEM
Commissioning Engineer
Zack graduated from the University of Dayton with a Master of Science of Renewable and Clean Energy and has a Bachelor of Mechanical Engineering with an emphasis in Energy Systems. He has his Engineer-in-Training certification in and his Energy Manager-in-Training certification.. Zack joined SystemWorks in 2019 and collaborates with building owners and managers to perform retro-commissioning projects, energy analysis, and energy audits. Zack’s experience to date includes over 100 ASHRAE Level II energy assessments at commercial and industrial facilities.

John Vande Kamp
TABB Certified Technician
John has over 18 years experience in the HVAC industry. He holds a journeyman HVAC license issued by the State of Iowa. John currently performs air and hydronic system testing as needed for our commissioning and facility analysis work. He is experienced with Phoenix lab control systems, preparation of commissioning plans, constructions checklists, functional performance tests, and site visit reports. John is a Testing, Adjusting and Balancing Bureau Certified TABB Technician.
